Sarah Susswein
Registered Clinical Counsellor
Sarah is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with BCACC and graduated with her Master of Counselling degree from City University.
Sarah is experienced in working with youth and adults who struggle with anxiety, trauma, anger, substance use, and a variety of mental wellness concerns. Sarah believes that mental and physical wellness are the foundation to optimal decision-making and happiness.
Sarah is all about maximizing enjoyment and quality of life. Her positive psychology approach to counselling is to focus the client’s strengths, values, present and future. She believes counselling is a safe space to cry, laugh, to be heard, and to reflect. Counselling is an opportunity to resolve and leave behind the past, envision the future, to create action plans, to pick up tools, to experiment, and to practice new behaviours and ways of thinking.
Sarah is trauma-informed and use a combination of therapies that draw on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), rational emotive behaviour therapy (REBT), solution-focused therapy, emotion-focused therapy, and narrative therapy. In addition to counselling, Sarah is trained in the Orton-Gillingham (OG) approach and in National Institute for Learning Development (NILD) educational therapy for the remediation of learning disabilities.
