How Laser Therapy Works
Laser Therapy can be applied in order to treat lacerations, soft tissue damage, and even bone injuries.
Laser therapy creates a chemical reaction in the body, which speeds up the healing process by helping the body to form cells which are involved in tissue healing. Not only does it trigger the body to create new cells, it also provides the new cells a substantial increase in energy, to fuel the process. This in turn further helps to speed up the physiotherapy treatment process.
An added bonus is the side effect of decreased pain as the body sends more blood into the area providing nutrients to help accelerate the healing process.
Laser Therapy Safety
Laser Therapy is an extremely safe and non-invasive alternative to other treatments, such as cortisone injections or surgery.
Laser Therapy uses a wavelength of monochromatic light, which painlessly penetrates the body and triggers the healing reaction. Low level Laser Therapy is very safe due to the ability of cells to resist being over stimulated.
Laser Therapy Research has shown that laser therapy can significantly enhance soft tissue repair, for injuries such as muscle sprains and other ligament/tendon injuries. It can also help heal injury to the bone and open wounds.
Laser Therapy is Often Used to Treat the Following:
- neck and lower back pain
- osteoarthritis
- sciatica
- muscle and ligament strains/sprains
- heel pain (plantar fasciitis)
- rotator cuff injuries
