Summer is in full swing in Greater Vancouver BC. That means you’re in need of reading material for the beach, poolside, and/or on the flight to your summer vacation destination. Now we know that on the surface physiotherapy news doesn’t sound like a lot of fun. However, when you look closely you may find that a few recent stories may be more relevant to you than expected. Let’s review!

Top 3 Stories from the Early Summer of 2022 Regarding Physiotherapy You Need to Know About

Physio = Better Sex this Summer

A recent article from Stylist magazine discussed the benefits of  pelvic physiotherapy for women who suffer from Endometriosis. Endometriosis is a disease in which the endometrium (tissue that lines the inside of the uterus or womb) is present outside of the uterus. Women who suffer from endometriosis are typically unable to have sex without experiencing significant pain and discomfort. While the condition affects up to 10% of women in their child-bearing years, data finds that as many as 75% of women experience pain during sex at some point. In the same manner that pelvic physio can alleviate the symptoms of endometriosis, it also effectively treats pelvic floor dysfunction and other conditions that make physical intimacy unfortunately unbearable. If you want to enjoy better sex this summer, physiotherapy may be the answer. Learn more.

Physio Helps Musicians Play Too

When people consider physical therapy as a means to correct injuries and enhance performance, they typically imagine athletes. Sports injury treatment is most certainly a primary application. However, a recent story from NBC News this summer has unveiled that physical therapy is also being used to great success for the treatment of musician injuries. From well known rock stars to Juilliard graduates, the very same physio services employed to help athletes can help you drum, strum, and play your instrument of choice.

The Pope Gets Physiotherapy to Get Back on Summer Tour 2022

In isn’t just musicians (see above) who need physiotherapy to get back on tour. At the beginning of the summer it was reported that Pope Francis had to sideline visits to a number of nations due to a leg injury. At press, he is in the middle of a treatment plan to get him back on track. What’s his primary form of  treatment? Physiotherapy of course! If it’s good enough for the supreme pontiff Roman pontiff, it’s the path to recovery for everyone.
