It’s been awhile since we checked in with a physiotherapy news report. We have been busy putting together a large body of content to spread awareness about the many (and often unexpected) benefits of physiotherapy. For example, did you know that physio can supplement anger management plans and possibly substitute the need for a sex therapist? Keep following along on our blog to keep up to date on all that our full service clinic offers. With that out of the way, we can now get back to what’s been happening around North America as it pertains to your own household’s holistic wellness plan.

May is National Physiotherapy Month!
Join us in celebrating National Physiotherapy Month (every May) in British Columbia and across Canada. This year, the theme carries over from ones prior, with a focus on action toward better pain management and rehabilitation. The theme is steeped in the primary function of physiotherapy, so if you’re among the 8 million Canadians (21% of the population) who suffer from chronic pain make May the month that you finally get in to see a physiotherapist. If you live in the Greater Vancouver area, schedule your consultation right here.

Protecting Senior Population from Falls…and Opioids
Breaking medical news resource MedPage Today recently published a call to action directed the U.S. Congress, stating that they (Congress) should take action to prevent older adult falls and subsequent injuries that can lead to opioid use
“Physical therapy is a proven strategy for preventing falls, alleviating pain, and improving overall quality of life for aging Americans. Additionally, data show that seniors engaging in physical therapy are less likely to require emergency department visits or hospitalizations after a fall, and are at lower risk of long-term opioid medication.”
Anyone who follows our blog knows that we have been very vocal about the risks associated with opioid use (and abuse) for pain management. Please reference our articles on the opioid crisis:
