If you’re like many people living with neck pain, back pain, pinched nerves or sciatic leg pain, you have gone online in search of alternative (to surgery) treatment methods. And like with most, your search has uncovered frequent mention of a method known as Y-strap adjustment. Professionally known as Y-axis traction strap adjustment, this innovative practice has quickly become a primary spinal decompression tool.
- The lowest part of the Y-strap is comfortably secured around the back of your head at the base of the skull.
- The strap is then cinched in the center, creating a Y-shape at the upper portion of the strap that leads into the handgrip.
- Your chiropractor then grabs the handgrip with both hands and positions the strap up and away from your body.
- Your chiropractor then gently but firmly pulls away from your body to decompress the spine.
In some cases your chiropractor may employ a small tug to further decompress the vertebrae and may also use small side-to-side motions to increase mobility of your spine.
